The Universidad Católica del Maule became the regional campus with the most projects in the last stage of the Anacleto Angelini Innovation Center contest.
Among the twenty best projects that applied to the entrepreneurship contest “Jump Chile”, the Universidad Católica del Maule has three.
“We started with six really amazing initiatives and reached the semifinals with three, being the campus in the region with the highest number of projects at this stage,” said the manager of the Innovative Entrepreneurship Unit at UCM, Soraya Castro.
Jump Chile is a business idea acceleration program, promoted by the Innovation Center “Anacleto Angelini” of the Catholic University, with a focus on higher education students from all over Latin America. Its objective is to train a new generation of entrepreneurs, transforming local problems into market opportunities with global impact.
“Our semi-finalists are undergraduate students of Biotechnology Engineering and Industrial Civil Engineering. We are very happy and proud of the result so far, because for the first time UCM has reached this stage,” added Castro.
In this phase, the semifinalists will work on improving their business model and pitch, through workshops and mentoring.
“Each team will have to present their three-minute pitch. This presentation will be reviewed by a panel of judges composed of four members of institutions linked to the national and Latin American entrepreneurship ecosystem, who will be responsible for deciding who will be the 10 finalist teams that will be presented at the final ceremony,” the contest rules state.
The winners will receive prizes ranging from two to eight million pesos.
The groups representing UCM are formed by Catalina Silva, Matías Meza and Lisett Rodríguez and José Briceño, Fernando Lara, Javier Hidalgo and Sebastián Carrasco. The student Marcela Cancino also advanced to the semifinals.
