The meeting, held in the offices of the Secretary of State in Santiago, brought together the executive directors of the network, the head of the Division of University Education, María Elisa Zenteno, and the coordinator of Modernization, Juan Pablo Pinilla.
«The idea was to deal with topics of joint interest for Higher Education institutions and from this, to generate an articulated agenda that allows to make the university’s work around teaching research and the processes of innovation and change that the tertiary level of education is experiencing visible for people», said Almonacid, director of the Department of University Teaching Research (DIDU), belonging to the Maule campus.
The directors of RENIDES explained its guidelines and «initiatives were designed to promote teaching research in universities, in order to advance in the line of academic modernization promoted by the Undersecretary of Higher Education,» said Almonacid, who also holds a doctorate in Physical and Artistic Activity.
The DIDU was born at the end of 2022, as a unit under the Research Department of the Universidad Católica del Maule. Its aim is improving the teaching practice within the campus. «Specialized studies demonstrate the relationship between teacher reflection and research and the improvement of student learning. These evidences highlight that when teachers reflect and work collaboratively with their colleagues to improve their teaching processes, they have a positive impact on the quality and relevance of the learning experience,» said Almonacid.
At the meeting, which was attended by Paulo Contreras of the Universidad Austral de Chile, Carla Gajardo of the Universidad Diego Portales and Ricardo García of the Universidad Católica de Temuco, the head of the University Education Division of the Ministry of Education made the commitment to attend the International Congress on Research in University Teaching, which will be held on January 9 and 10 at UCM.
