Dr. Ivana Leao Ribeiro, Director of the Master’s Program in Health Sciences Research at Universidad Católica del Maule.
From the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Universidad Católica del Maule, our mission is to train professionals committed to improving the quality of life of individuals, families and communities, guided by Christian-ethical principles that frame our work. Over the years, we have consolidated a solid trajectory in the training of health leaders, who not only stand out for their academic excellence, but also for their dedication to actively contribute to the construction of a more just, inclusive and evidence-based health system.
The Master in Health Sciences Research is a reflection of our commitment to the generation of knowledge and the continuous improvement of the health of the population. This program, aimed at professionals from diverse areas such as kinesiology, medicine, psychology, medical technology, nutrition, nursing, among others, offers a comprehensive and interdisciplinary training that responds to the current needs of the health field. By addressing health issues from a broad and methodologically rigorous perspective, the program allows its students to develop research that directly impacts people’s lives.
The Master’s approach is organized along two fundamental lines: Clinical Health Research and Collective Health. The first allows professionals to explore health-disease processes from a specific clinical perspective, while the second focuses on the analysis of biopsychosocial and epidemiological determinants that influence the health of the population, considering lifestyles, quality of life and other factors that affect collective well-being. This diverse and comprehensive approach responds to the mission of our Faculty: to train professionals capable of managing health care at different levels, promoting research as an essential tool for informed decision-making and the improvement of public health policies.
One of the strengths of this Master’s degree offered by UCM is its remote mode and its flexibility for students who are workers, which allows more professionals to access this valuable training without neglecting other responsibilities. With a duration of four semesters, the program is designed to offer a rigorous and accessible academic experience, in a synchronous format that guarantees constant interaction between students and faculty.
Our academic team, composed mostly of PhDs with a vast research career both nationally and internationally, ensures a high level of teaching. In addition, we have the participation of collaborating academics from different countries, which further enriches the development of the program, providing a global perspective in the training of our students.
The impact of this Master’s program will not only be reflected in the scientific advances that its graduates will contribute to generate, but also in the improvement of professional practices in the field of health. Each graduate will be prepared to lead research projects that address specific and relevant health problems for our society, promoting innovative and sustainable solutions that benefit both individuals and communities.
In an increasingly complex world, where health issues need to be addressed from multiple approaches, the Master in Health Sciences Research UCM is positioned as a unique opportunity for those professionals seeking to become agents of change. It is, without a doubt, an opportunity for those who wish to lead with commitment and knowledge, and contribute to the construction of a healthier future for all.
