RESEARCH CENTERS

Creating research centers is a strategy, which aims to strengthen and formalize the established research cores. We intend to promote the impact of Universidad Católica del Maule’s research results through these units in a regional, national, and international manner, encouraging interdisciplinary work.

Intercultural Integration Study Center (CEII, for its name in Spanish): CEII was created in 2015 under decree #148/2015. In 2019, their focus shifts towards an intercultural framework where the current name is established under decree #30/2019. Its general goal is to promote research and national, as well as international, cooperation on intercultural topics that build useful knowledge for regional development.

Urban and Territorial Studies Center (CEUT, for its name in Spanish): CEUT was created in 2015 under decree #149/2015. Its main goal is studying the sociocultural and economic processes in nonmetropolitan territories, which are composed of city networks, towns, and rural localities that are connected and influence each other.

UCM Care Research Center: It was decreed in 2015 (Decree #70/2015). Its main goal is to develop and strengthen care, taking every area of nursing into consideration, at a regional and national level.

Biotechnology Center of Natural Resources (CENBIO, for its name in Spanish): It was decreed in 2015 (Decree #70/2015). Its main goal is to satisfy the immediate needs of the production industry of the Maule region, which require advanced technology applications.

Inland Dry Land Development Center: It was decreed in 2015 (Decree #70/2015). Its main goal is to support plot owners located in unirrigated inland areas to optimize their land’s productivity, using production education, which maximizes their potential profitability by including modern concepts of multiple purpose production where agricultural, cattle, forest, and other product activities are combined.

Mathematical and Statistical Education Research Center (CIEMAE, for its name in Spanish): It was decreed in 2016 (Decree #124/2016). Its main goal is to strengthen research, advising, and consultation in the areas, which constitute its nature: education in mathematics and education in statistics.

Education Research Center for Social Justice (CIEJUS, for its name in Spanish): Ciejus is a center with researchers from five different national universities and three different international universities. It was decreed in 2017 (Decree #127/2017). Its main goal is to generate knowledge along with people and their communities, regarding segregation, exclusion, and inequality problems that exist in the national education system, taking on social justice as its focus through research development, education, supporting public policies and scientific dissemination activities towards society from research cores of teacher training, schools, and community; education and territoriality; and indigenous education.

Religion and Society Research Center (CIRS, for its name in Spanish): It was decreed in 2018 (Decree #52/2018). Its main goal is to promote and develop interdisciplinary scientific research on religions in different areas of national and regional reality, cooperating from areas of religion and culture towards the study of religion in our society.

Applied Engineering Innovation Center (CIIA, for its name in Spanish): It was decreed in 2018 (Decree #52/2018). Its main goal is to strengthen research, innovation, involvement, and development in the School of Engineering Sciences, and that they field of action is within the scope of technological transference in the industry, within the fields stated by the CIIA.

Neuropsychology and Cognitive Neuroscience Research Center (CINPSI, for its name in Spanish): It was decreed in 2018 (Decree #52/2018). Its main goal is to develop studies in neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience from behavioral and electrophysiological variables.
