The Educational and Vocational Guidance Master at the Universidad Católica del Maule received the validation of the CNA, becoming the only program of its kind to be accredited in Chile.
The Master’s in Educational and Vocational Guidance at the Universidad Católica del Maule (UCM) was placed as the only postgraduate program of its kind to be validated by the National Accreditation Commission (CNA), after receiving the certification.
The evaluating body approved the accreditation of the program unanimously.
«We are very pleased to have a second master’s degree from the Faculty of Education Sciences accredited. This faculty already had a certified master’s degree in Special Education and Psycho-pedagogy. This milestone is in line with our strategic development plan, where we set out to have one hundred percent of the postgraduate programs accredited, and also demonstrates the consolidation of institutional strategies that set out to improve the quality of the programs,» said the director of Postgraduate Studies of the campus, Karina Vilches.
The unit, which offers a total of 33 programs, has a total of 13 doctoral and master’s degrees validated by the CNA.
«This is our seventh accredited master’s degree. We hope this allows more and more students to apply for ANID funding,» added Vilches, who holds a PhD in Engineering Sciences.
The program’s director, Carolina Cornejo, attributed the achievement to curricular changes and academic effort.
«Our faculty members have a lot of experience and commitment and maintain a strong relationship with spaces outside of university, so they connect theory to practice very well. We have been working together for years; they are forward thinkers,» said the also director of UCM’s Department of Diversity and Inclusive Education.
The master’s degree, now certified until 2027, has a duration of two years and is aimed at kindergarten, special, elementary and middle school teachers, as well as professionals in the social sciences and humanities.
«We place great emphasis on our UCM seal, because we train others with a very humane approach, respecting the uniqueness of each person in the educational context,» said Cornejo.
