The director of the Doctorate in Psychology, Boris Lucero, described the CNA certification as a recognition of «high standard» work.
The National Accreditation Commission (CNA, in Spanish) has unanimously certified the Doctorate in Psychology program at the Universidad Católica del Maule (UCM) for six years, signifying a notable advancement from the previous two-year accreditation term.
«It is a recognition of the quality of the work that the program is doing in the formation of advanced human capital. The milestone was achieved through the constant and concentrated work of the management team and academic body. Our high standard academic community is an inspiration to generate independent researchers among our students,» said Boris Lucero, director of the doctoral program.
Aimed at both psychologists and professionals in the fields of education, health and social sciences, the postgraduate program stands out for the high scientific productivity of its faculty and its international agreements.
«It’s important to note that the program began in 2018, and from the very beginning, we’ve placed great emphasis on quality assurance, which has led to our accreditation. The new accreditation for six years is a significant institutional achievement, because it is the longest period that a doctorate has been accredited to date. Externally, it also positions us as the Doctorate in Psychology with the longest extension in years of accreditation by the CNA, since it lasts until February 2030, while the rest of the programs in Chile have their accreditations until 2029,» added the also director of the Center for Research in Neuropsychology and Cognitive Neurosciences (CINPSI), belonging to the campus.
Along the same lines, Karina Vilches, director of Postgraduate Studies at the UCM, emphasized the continuous improvement of the doctorate.
«It is a milestone for our university, as we have consolidated our postgraduate offerings by reaccrediting the three oldest programs. In the case of this doctorate, we have tripled the program duration. We also value the work and effort of many units, such as the Faculty of Health Sciences, the General Directorate of Institutional Quality Assurance and the Vice-Rectory for Research and Graduate Studies,» she said.
The university has a total of 32 programs, with fourteen postgraduate programs certified by the CNA. Among these, there are seven doctorates and an equal number of master’s degrees.
