The Directorate of Innovation, Development and Technology Transfer of the Maule campus signed a cooperation agreement with an organization from the University of Valencia.
Universidad Católica del Maule signed a collaboration agreement on innovation with the Science Park of one of the oldest higher education institutions in Spain; University of Valencia, a public institution oriented to teaching and research since 1499.
«We are proud to establish an agreement with a university as transcendent as this one, with 500 years of history. People sometimes think that only willingness decides these things, but it is also about collaboration, synergy, opportunities and capabilities. Putting all that into gear has not been easy,» said UCM’s Vice Rector for Research and Graduate Studies, Hernán Maureira.
The Valencia Science Park (PCUV) seeks to foster innovation processes within the campus, promoting the creation of scientific-technical based companies that contribute to economic and social development and which generate employment.
«For us to have a strategic partner in the region will help our research groups and companies that want to establish themselves in Chile because the Universidad Católica del Maule will be able to lend them a hand,» said the park’s head of operations, Vincent Clemente, who gave a lecture at the Maule campus.
«Thanks to this agreement we have the possibility of expanding and strengthening our relationship with this important European center. We have held conversations not only on issues of innovation and applied research, but also on postgraduate studies, science and technology-based companies, internships and student mobility,» said UCM’s Director of Innovation, Development and Technology Transfer, Fabiola Loyola.
In addition to a scientific area, the PCUV has a business sector that houses more than seventy companies, both young and consolidated, mainly in the fields of Biotechnology and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
